Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family moved to Louisiana when she was 9. Decker then won a local talent competition for her rendition "I I'd like to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" from Patsy Montana. Decker's family relocated out of Louisiana and into Georgia during the summer of 1995. She had started to write songs and made frequent trips to Nashville. Looking for an agreement, Decker visited record companies and music publishers. The songs she wrote were offered to record labels and other artists by a Big Yellow Dog Records agent at the age of 17. Decker signed a deal with Island/Def Jam after Mercury Records' president David Massey passed her demos to L.A. Reid, head of Island/Def Jam. In August 2009, she launched her self-titled debut album, titled Jessie James. Jessie James was reasonably successful and included Wanted a single that brushed the Top 40 of the singles charts. Decker has always been a Country artist, however the album produced and promoted with pop audiences in mind. Decker felt dissatisfied by the two other singles released from the album with the top executives of the record label for better power. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which is more traditional. The second album that Decker released under the titles of Daughter of a Gypsy or Sweet American Dreams was shelved by Mercury and, after the release of three singles fared poorly in the charts of country music. Decker was let go of her contract.
