Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) is an American performer, actor as well as a dancer. Her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. As it is a Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford will be returning in 2023 and will be starring opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton directed the show. Ashford's last part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
