Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering for Union Carbide. The mother of her Patricia Ann taught at a local college. To follow her father, she graduated with an engineering degree in chemical science. To fulfill her ambition to be an actor the actress decided to move into New York and try her attempt at acting in Hollywood. The Broadway performances were followed by work at a local restaurant. In the TV series "Felicity," she had one brief appearance. (It is on this show where she met the man she married, Scott Foley. Garner was a star in the romantic comedy "13 going on thirty" in which she portrayed a teenager trapped in a 30 year-old's body. Garner selected Gary Winick as the director of her film. They continued looking for projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner earned the honorary title of the artist ambassador in 2009 by Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails promoting education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a participant on the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early childhood education. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits often with families who are part of Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents in how to assist youngsters in their learning.
